Assignment One
This assignment is due by January 15th/June 15th.
Please send your homework to holclass.silvana@gmail.com with the subject line Fiction HW1 - HOL name. Please put the heading on everything so it corresponds to the lesson. This makes it easier to figure out what it is I'm grading. I try to include a variety of options, but if you're struggling to get the points for accessibility reasons, just let me know and we'll figure something else out. Each assignment will be worth more than sixty points. I can only award you 60 points per assignment so remember that when choosing what you want to complete. Any questions, don't hesitate to send me an HOL message!

Give an example of a book from each genre - do not use one already mentioned in the lesson:

Book Genre:

Make up a book genre and tell me about in at least 100 words. What does your genre cover? If you had to put it as a subgenre of an existing genre, what would it be? (You don't have to address those questions, but those are some things to think about)

(10 points, if the statement is false, correct it)
- What genre is futuristic?
- Fantasy involves a crime that builds suspense.
- What constitutes a novella?
- What is the word count for a book to be considered a novel?
- In order to be Science Fiction, a book has parts that can't possibly be true.

Books and Movies:

Some books get their own movies. What is your favorite book that was made into a movie? Did you like the book better than the movie or was it the other way around? Please complete this in at least 100 words.
Tools:

Design a futuristic tool that you would like to be invented. Upload your picture to an image hosting site and send me the link.
Questing:
There are two options you can do to complete this quest. Each is worth 30 points. Remember to read the bottom of the page for everything you have to send in for your full 30 points.
Option One:
One of the pictures I included in the lesson was of two dragons coming out of a book. What do you think dragons would look like? Would they be friendly or rather vicious creatures? Would they be large or small? What color would they be? Feel free to include a picture along with your description. Minimum of 100 words. Send me your description via HOL message and I'll send you back the password.
Option Two:
Solve this fallen letters puzzle and decipher the "riddle" the puzzle gives you:
Note: The phrase the puzzle says points towards the "password" but is not the password itself.
